Done wrong, they can lead to a poor return on investment, e-mail blacklisting issues, or, worse, a damaged reputation.

This seminar will show you the do's and don'ts of e-mail marketing, and examples of good and bad campaigns. You will also learn about the latest metrics based on recent benchmarks for various industries. If you currently use e-mail marketing or are thinking about it, come and find out what you can do to boost your bottom line while staying clear of the pitfalls. Bring printouts of your current newsletters if you would like feedback on them.

Speaker: Raj Khera is co-founder of MailerMailer, a leading e-mail list management service that enables businesses and consultants to create and track opt-in e-mail newsletters and marketing campaigns. His company also runs MoreBusiness.com, a popular portal for small business owners.

As co-founder and President of Khera Communications, Inc., Raj led the development and growth of GovCon.com, a portal for government contractors that was acquired by VerticalNet in 1999 for $12 million. Raj Khera has been involved in engineering and business development for many years. Before co-founding Khera Communications, he worked in electronics engineering and technology transfer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Raj Khera holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Visitors for the University of Maryland College of Math, Computer and Physical Sciences. In addition, Raj enjoys long bike rides and is a struggling weekend golfer.

Several times a year a smaller group (usually about 8 to 12) goes to Nanny O'Brien's (directly across the street from the library at 3319 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 202-686-9189, open 2 pm Saturday to 2 am Sunday) or another local establishment for continued conversation, networking, and refreshment following the meeting. (Participants pay for their own beverages and food.)
